Spike Aerospace is seeking experienced senior aerodynamic design engineers for the Spike Supersonic Jet. These individuals will lead the design, analysis, and performance modeling of the aircraft through the full mission profile.
Responsibilities
- Lead aircraft design and aerodynamic performance analysis using Computational Fluid Dynamics techniques and optimization methods
- Support wind tunnel testing and design optimization
- Assist with preliminary design tasks including basic aircraft sizing
- Provide technical leadership of aircraft design
- Recruit, build, mentor, and manage engineering team
- Support other engineering departments and projects
- Maintain a current knowledge of developments in this field and other related aircraft fields
- Recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of fixed-wing aerodynamics, propulsion, and performance
- Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis techniques, airframe aerodynamic design, and optimization methods
- Experience with aerodynamic analysis of supersonic aircraft required
- Experience with wind tunnel testing and analysis desired
- Solid understanding of airplane flight characteristics and performance methods
- Experience with transport category airplane certification projects (Part 25)
- Python, MATLAB, or FORTRAN programming experience required
- Experience with Star-CCM+ or Ansys Fluent
- Bachelors or Masters degree in aerospace engineering
- 10 years engineering experience utilizing these specific skills
